WATCH: 'Jaffa flotilla' marks destruction of Palestine's cultural capital

Dozens of Palestinians and Israeli Jews sailed along the coast last week to mark the destruction of Jaffa — the former political, cultural and economic capital of Palestine — during the 1948 War. Organized by the Israeli NGO Zochrot, which works to raise awareness of the Nakba and promote the right of return among Israeli Jews, the participants, which included Joint List MK Haneen Zoabi, listened to first-hand stories of the fear, expulsions and mass exodus of Palestinians from the city by the pre-state Zionist militias.

Looks like a wonderful lunch cruise. The fictional stories they tell seem very entertaining. Are they improvising as they are making this stuff up or is there a script? They are indeed very gifted actors. How much were tickets or were they subsidized by the European taxpayer? Kudos to the EU for sponsoring such amazing light entertainment.

Tnak you for dismissing these personal and tragic stories, again showing us and the world the ugly face of modern Zionism and Israeli Islamophobia. You’re doing God’s work.

Please don’t stop commenting on 972. I often send people that are still apologetic about Israel and Israel’s actions to this site and dare them to read the comments. It’s an eye-opener for most of them.

Reading this website isn’t an eye opener. Watching Palestinian TV is an eye opener – especially when they say that Jews are the offspring of apes and pigs, that the holocaust was a Nazi and Zionist collaboration, and when women say that their wombs are factories for martyrs.

Thanx for yet another bit of proof that Jerusalem never was a capital of any “Palestinian state”.

Jerusalem was never the capital of any “Jewish State”, at least not in the last thousand years, and there’s a statute of limitations on that stuff.

Jerusalem was the recognized capitol of the mandated State of Palestine. But you don’t know that, because you are not even a native.

It has never ben the capitol of the State of Israel.

          1) Mandatory Palestine never was a state.

          2) The location of the capital of the Mandatory Palestine is of no relevance whatsoever.

Doesn’t the word “Zochrot” mean something like remember or remembering?

If so, perhaps the people of Zochrot can stop making up an imaginary “Palestine” with a “capital?”

      Thank you.

What is your problem? The whole state was called Palestine pre 48 and Jaffa was it former political, cultural and economic, but not national capital of Palestine which was Jerusalem.

Rubbish. There never was a “State of Palestine” in history. Brits tried to establish one, but Arabs would not agree that Jews would have same rights.

p.s. Prove me wrong. Name ONE Palestinian ruler before Yasser Arafat.

The amount of nonsense that the Palistinians engage in never seems to be enough
