Hundreds of settlers launch dozens of attacks against Palestinians across the West Bank, in the wake of two Palestinian attacks that left four Israelis dead. • Why does Netanyahu think he can stop rock throwing?

If live ammunition hasn't stopped stone throwing in the West Bank, what makes the prime minister think it will work in Jerusalem? The one thing we can be sure the change in policy will do is kill more Palestinians.  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants security forces to start shooting Palestinian stone throwers. As readers of this blog may have noticed, many of the incidents reported here take place in pasture lands; it's a part of the attempt by the settlers to prevent Palestinians from working their land or grazing it. As soon as the Palestinians abandon the…

  • WATCH: Settlers shoot Palestinian in head while soldiers stand by

A 24 year-old Palestinian was hit in the head from a live round of bullets Saturday in the village of Asira al-Qibliya. B'Tselem footage of the event shows the settlers shooting at the young man, and Israeli soldiers standing by them – doing nothing to prevent it. According to B'Tselem, the incident started at around 16:30 Saturday, when a group of settlers descended from the extremist settlement Itzhar towards the Palestinian village (as seen in the first video below). According to eye witnesses the settlers – some of them masked and some armed – started fires in the fields near…
