Glenn Beck

  • Did Glenn Beck just join the 2012 presidential race?

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) held a gala dinner last night and paid respect to Glenn Beck, who received the “Dr. Miriam & Sheldon Adelson Defender of Israel Award.” Beck, as usual, shed a few tears during his speech. But like the true entertainer that he is, he left the audience (and us) wondering after these comments: Beck said that “there is an 18 month window” left in which to save the world – “and I believe I know how to do it”. He pledged to announce on December 8 where he is headed – “there is a vacuum…

  • Likud and Glenn Beck: the two-headed monster

There's much bewilderment about how the ruling party in Israel came to endorse someone like Glenn Beck. But the truth is that they are a perfect match - and while Beck is talking the (crazy) talk, it's the Likud that's actually walking the walk. Reflecting on Glenn Beck’s visit, Haaretz puzzles (rather naively): “It is mystifying that people from Israel’s ruling party, Likud, foremost among them Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon and World Likud Chairman Danny Danon, have joined the circle Beck’s fans.” I find this statement equally mystifying for two reasons: 1) it obscures the close relationship between Beck…

  • Glenn Beck’s "Restoring Courage" rally in Jerusalem ends with a whimper

Could a dull event in Jerusalem, in front of just 1,000 people, spell the end of Glenn Beck? It must have been pretty rough for Glenn Beck to see this: After months of preparations, hours of television and radio talk all geared up for the big day, tons of merchandise manufactured, Glenn Beck could just about muster over a thousand people at his “Restoring Courage” last night in Jerusalem. I can’t help but think that this flop might be a lethal blow for this guy. After getting kicked out of FOX and then his decision to veer even farther to…

  • Racism, settlements and Glenn Beck: One pic that says it all

Joseph Dana twitted this pic from the Glenn Beck rally, which tells most of what you need to know about the current moment here. The second man on the right is Supermarket mogul Rami Levi, who recently started separating Arab and Jewish workers at one of his stores. to his right is Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jerusalem and patron of settlements in Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan and other Palestinian neighborhoods.

  • Glenn Beck to announce: “Ani Haredi! I am an orthodox Jew!”

Not to be out-maneuvered by his new partner in the evangelical business, Glenn Beck has decided to raise the stakes in the battle with Pastor John Hagee over who can pander more to the Jews and Israel. It was only weeks ago, that Hagee invited Beck to the annual Christians United for Israel conference, where Beck had the audacity - on Hagee’s home turf - to declare “I am a Jew!” Little did Beck know that when he invited Hagee to the “Restoring Courage” event that took place this Sunday in Caesarea, his mentor would fight back in style and…

  • WATCH: John Hagee at Glenn Beck event: “I am Israeli!"

Glenn Beck kicked off his "Restoring Courage" week in Israel last night with a pep rally at the ancient ampitheatre in Caesarea. On Wednesday Beck will hold the main event, inside the Old City of Jerusalem. Last time I was at Caesarea was for an Ehud Banai concert, my idol. And before that for an off-Broadway production of “A Chorus Line”. All three shows sent shivers down my spine, yet for very different reasons. Having Glenn Beck, John Hagee, thousands of pumped, middle-aged and above evangelicals, a few hundred settlers and an Israeli choir singing Holocaust hymns - all on…

  • Are 'supporters' being hired to attend Glenn Beck rally?

An ad on Janglo seeks people to serve as ambassadors for their countries of origin at Glenn Beck's Restoring Courage rally. Will they get paid? "Depends where you're from" The uber-conservative Christian Zionist commentator Glenn Beck has arrived in Israel. He will hold his “Restoring Courage” rally in Jerusalem on August 24. So it seems like a mighty odd coincidence that a few weeks ago, I found this ad on Janglo: On August 24 2011 there is a huge international event being held in Jerusalem where people are coming to stand with Israel. At the event there are flags from…

  • Poll: Most Israeli Jews won't accept Jesus as Messiah

According to the poll, only 20% of Jews were shocked and angered to find out they were just “pawns” in the Christian fundamentalist’s plan On the heels of Glenn Beck’s visit to the Knesset last week and ahead of his keynote speech this week at the 2011 Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Washington summit, +972 magazine commissioned a poll on Israeli attitudes towards the Rapture and the role of Jews in the event of Jesus’ return. The poll, conducted by Dr. Tina Kemach, shows that a majority of Israeli Jews, 74.3%, have no intention whatsoever of accepting Jesus as the…

  • Glenn Beck meets former chair of terror organization

One of the visitors on the Knesset's Committee discussion that hosted Glen Beck today was a settler named Baruch Marzel. Marzel, seen below meeting Beck, was the secretary of Rabbi Meir Kahane's Kach movement. After the assassination of Kahane, Marzel, a resident of Hebron, chaired the party. Kach and Kahane Chai (a faction of the party, formed after Kahane's death) were outlawed in Israel. Both groups are considered terrorist organizations by Canada, the European Union and the United States. See, for example, item 20 of the  State Department's current list of designated foreign terrorist 0rganizations. I am sure that Beck,…

  • Glenn Beck at Knesset: "The West and Israel are being set up"

The Glenn Beck circus at the Knesset today had it all: Ecstatic fans who pushed and shoved to meet him; a theatrical as ever Beck, pounding on the table and yelling "Amen"; MK Arieh Eldad saying the occupation must end (the Islamic occupation of Israel) and even some chit-chat and shaking of hands with one of Israel's most famous Kahanists, Baruch Marzel. The attendees and MKs couldn't get enough of him, and not one would dare miss the opportunity to kiss the feet of the Holy Beck My Glenn Beck experience had quite a strange start to it. When I…

  • Glenn Beck to grace Knesset with his presence

The Jerusalem Post reports today that former FOX pundit Glenn Beck will address the Knesset Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee, ahead of his huge rally planned this August in Jerusalem. Apparently, this idea belongs to no other than the head of the committee, the esteemed MK Danny Danon (Likud). I was wondering, what particular pieces of wisdom Beck is going to bring to this specific committee. His knowledge on curbing immigration to America? How to better absorb Mexican immigrants? On efforts, maybe, to convince American expats to return to their homeland? Actually, Danon has a different idea: “When we…
