Upper Nazareth – Jewish forever! According to a leaflet published by Upper Nazareth Mayor Shimon Gapso, the city will make concerted efforts to prevent Arabs from moving into the city, in order to prevent “a grave danger to the very existence of a Jewish community in the Galilee.”
In the leaflet, which was uploaded to the Nazareth, The Magical City’s Facebook page, Gapso states that “maintaining the Jewish identity of Upper Nazareth is the most important task of the mayor” and that Gaspo vows to “prevent at all costs the establishment of an Arab school in [sic] upper Nazareth.”
The question remains: how far do Gaspo’s sentiments stray from the Israeli consensus which believes that Israel must maintain a Jewish majority?
