This past April, Secretary of State John Kerry apologized for his famous “apartheid remark,” in which he warned that Israel risks becoming an apartheid state if there is no two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict soon. It was indeed a great shame that he, so quickly, just a day later, buckled to pressure and claimed that he should have chosen a better word than that.
Problem is, there is no better word for what Israel does in the West Bank.
And today, Kerry was “caught” again with yet another “gaffe” while being interviewed by Fox News. Kerry was recorded saying on open mic to an advisor – in extremely sarcastic tone – that the Israeli incursion was “a hell of a pinpoint operation.” He then proceeded to say “We’ve got to get over there… We ought to go tonight. I think it’s crazy to be sitting around.”
When the Fox anchor confronted him on this, Kerry elegantly got out of the mess – at least for now. We’ll have to see how AIPAC reacts to this and if Kerry will be subject to its wrath.
Problem is, he’s right again. Speaking the truth, yet again.
Anyone can see, especially after events last night and today in Shujaiyeh, that this is no pinpoint operation.
And anyone can see that the U.S., Europe, and the rest of the world is indeed sitting around.
And yes, that’s just crazy.
