COMIC: Wiesel, weaponized

By Eli Valley

Nobel Prize winner and Holocaust survivor Eli Wiesel published a new ad campaign in major newspapers across the U.S., in which he claims that the war between Gaza and Israel is a battle between “those who celebrate life and those who champion death,” and refers to “child sacrifice” and “worshippers of death cults.”

It is sad what anti-Semitic trash 972mag continues to publish. The use of the Holocaust is disgusting.

Well observed – it is indeed sad that the Israeli government continues to generate such anti-semitic trash – Palestinians being semites – and to abuse the holocaust so disgustingly, that 972 is compelled for the sake of both humanity and the ethical heritage of Judaism to publish it.

What’s “anti-Semitic” about that cartoon, Whiplash?

The cartoonist is very clearly taking a pot-shot at Wiesel’s willingness to trash his reputation in the service of Israeli attempts to (a) demonize the Palestinians and (b) absolve Israel of any responsibility for its crimes.

There is nothing remotely “anti-Semitic” in pointing that out, unless you want to claim that both Wiesel and Israel are In All Cases And Under All Circumstances Beyond All Criticism.

          What is anti-Semitic?

          1. Drawing and contorting the appearance of Jewish leaders and other people in a grotesque distortion of their physical features is anti-Semitic.

          2. Making Jews look menacing, creepy, crazy, dirty, dark and swarthy is classic anti-Semitism.

          3. Throwing in a blood libel or two is classic anti-Semitism, such as the picture of Wiesel’s face on the drone appearing happy at the death and destruction below.

          4. The use of the Holocaust to make a linkage to the events in Gaza, trivializes the Holocaust and its victims, suggests that Jews are causing a holocaust to take place in Gaza (another blood libel) and is inaccurate in the extreme for the purpose of heaping scorn on and hatred towards Jewish persons.

            Shorter Whiplash:

“I don’t like this political cartoon, its imagery and message. Therefore it is antisemitic.”

From the Zionist commentary on these comics, the simple act of drawing a Jewish person as being anything but handsome and strong is anti-semitic. Even if that person is being criticized for something other than simply being Jewish.

            Hmmm, let’s see…..

Complaint (1) is a non-starter, for the simple fact is that Eli Valley draws e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. that way.

Jews, Gentiles, Goats, Fish, Furniture, Whatever, they are all “contorted” and “grotesquely distorted”.

            Fail.

Complaint (2) is also a non-starter, for (again) e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. and e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. that Eli Valley draws is drawn to look “menacing, creepy, crazy,” etc. etc.

            Fail.

Complaint (3) misrepresents the cartoon, since it is clearly shown that a smile is fixed on Wiesal’s drone-face the moment the wires are crossed in panel 2.

            Fail.

Complaint (4) is actually a litany of complaints that should be directed at Shmuely Boteach, not at Eli Valley.

After all, Valley is simply highlighting that Wiesel is prostituting his Holocaust-derived reputation, but it is Boteach who is directing Wiesel to do that on behalf of the state of Israel.

            Fail.

Still, it’s not about the facts, is it?

It’s really about shouting “Anti-Semite!” as a way of stifling criticism of the war crimes of Israel.

Be mindful you don’t over-use that trick, Whippie.

“Complaint (1) is a non-starter, for the simple fact is that Eli Valley draws e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. that way.”

Absolutely untrue statement. Just the other day another person here made a similar claim and I sent him one of Valley’s Obama cartoons. Damn, Obama looked good.

“Complaint (2) is also a non-starter, for (again) e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. and e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. that Eli Valley draws is drawn to look “menacing, creepy, crazy,” etc. etc.”

            Not true.

“Complaint (3) misrepresents the cartoon, since it is clearly shown that a smile is fixed on Wiesal’s drone-face the moment the wires are crossed in panel 2.”

Not true. The smile in 2 is completely different than in 3, which, in turn, is different from 4.

“Complaint (4) is actually a litany of complaints that should be directed at Shmuely Boteach, not at Eli Valley.

After all, Valley is simply highlighting that Wiesel is prostituting his Holocaust-derived reputation, but it is Boteach who is directing Wiesel to do that on behalf of the state of Israel.”

What you mean to say is that Valley is misconstruing what Wiesel is saying and has done in the past in order to press his disgusting point. Right?

“It’s really about shouting “Anti-Semite!” as a way of stifling criticism of the war crimes of Israel.”

There were no war crimes in Gaza and if there were, they were minimal and unintentional. As for shouting “anti-Semite,” there is no question that Valley has earned that sobriquet. There may be some people who use that term injudiciously, but most of us who use it, are very careful to only use it when it applies. On the other hand, many people who are guilty of anti-Semitism try to hide behind the false claim that the term is used gratuitously to protect Israel. They can hide all they want, but when it’s true, it’s true.

            wiesel is a profiteering pawn.
            israel is going too far.
the jew’s arrogant stance of superiority drives the entire insane death star.
israel does not care. israel has god on its side.
oops, looks like israel cannot protect itself from itself.

      I wish I could draw.

I would take Eli Valley and draw him doing his anti-Jewish shtick in precisely the same terms he uses here.

Btw Eli, the Palestinians violated the cease fire again today, after days of threatening to restart their war against Israel. I can’t wait to see your comic mocking them and their declarations. That would be your first being critical of them, wouldn’t it? It will be interesting to see how you draw Arabs.

Poor Eli Wiesel. After losing his millions to Bernie Madoff, he’s forced to work for the likes of Schmucky Boteach. After “surviving” the holocaust, one would think he would have some sympathy for people who are fighting for freedom against a racist apartheid regime that aims to literally cleanse them from their native land. But, true to form, the Weasel sides with whoever pays his meal ticket.

Don’t be an ass. Eli Wiesel may be morally challenged and ethically compromised, but he did not abet the murder of 10 million Europeans.

Uh, no. Wiesel is not “worse than Eichmann ever was.” I can’t tell if you’re serious or a troll, which is a sad commentary on the state of the internet these days.

The drivel about Molochites etc. was awful AND unoriginal, invented by third rate rabbis who extol the superiority of Jews because they abandoned sacrifice of their sons (and, after a while, daughters) in some mythical past, and went ahead practicing lesser sins like genocide (according to the same set of legends of which they are so proud). This stuff has a genuine potential to fan out anti-Semitism, especially if it is plastered in newspapers with large circulation.

If you attack Eli for the cartoon, you defend drivel that justifies mass murder.

There once was a man name of Valley.
Anti-Semitism was right up his alley.
      His followers loved it,
      Hailed it and scrubbed it,
The ovens they called their finale.

I love all this outrage and sanctimony over Wiesel. What? Are you kidding? Wiesel was the original shill. There’s no business like the Holocaust Business, and Wiesel cashed in early on. What’d ya think this guy was making for a speaking engagement in his prime? $50,000? $100,000 a pop? Yeah, how about that “Night”, eh? Lol. That book’s been translated into every goddamm language on earth. Today we have anti-semitism the likes of which have not been seen since the 1940’s. I wonder if there’s any correlation? Lol. Ok. So this guy has one job to do. To be the living testament to the murder of the Jews, to be the one to emerge from the fires of hell, cleansed, ready to be the moral conscience of the western world. Now Reagan wants to go to Bitburg. It’s Wiesel’s job to convince him not to. What happens? Reagan goes to Bitburg to offer a mea culpa to the Waffen SS. The moral conscience of the western world was unable to convince the star of “Bedtime for Bonzo” that; how did Wiesel put it? “his place was with the victims”. This guy is as useless as two tits on a bull. Personally, I think Valley is overstating Wiesel’s importance. 😀

    10. Israel uses missiles to shield civilians (Iron Dome). Palestinians use civilians to shield missiles, aimed at Israel. Israel targets Hamas military forces. Hamas targets Jewish civilians. Hamas deliberately launches attacks from civilian areas in Gaza, to insure “martyrs” when Israel destroys their missiles. What kind of government deliberately desires the murder of their own people, just so they can tell the world that they “are martyrs?”

Israel desires only to be left alone. Hamas promises in their charter to “destroy Israel” and to “murder Jews.” That, by point of fact, is GENOCIDE. Read it for yourself in many languages on-line. What does that say about which side is a victim?

The next time someone wants to declare that Israel has visited a “holocaust” against Palestinians, they should prove that millions of Palestinians were evicted from their homes, had all of their possessions confiscated by Israel; that they were brutalized, starved and forced into slave labor – and that millions of those Palestinians were then murdered by Israel. The death of less than 2,000 civilians because Hamas launched rockets from their neighborhood does not constitute a “genocide.”
