  1. No one treats holocaust survivors quite like Israel. Raise their rents, call some of the self-hating, and now this.

  3. The thing is that they do really believe Judaism runs in their blood !:S this is a disaster, Israelis are brainwashed to the point they cant use their brains, maybe they should run a DNA testing program for all them (as they claim , the nation), they will really be disappointed….

  5. If the state of Israel isn’t for halachic Jews, then what do I care about it or its people? Why send money, why support, without the Torah, God and the ideal of 613 commandments–Jews are history. Period. End of conversation. When I see the phrase “separation of church & state” in an article about Israel, it makes me want to puke. If Israelis want to be part of the US & have the US constitution–go to the US! Give Israel to the Arabs. The other issue of halachic gentiles wanting to be considered Jews is BS. Just because the Nazi’s had their criteria for who is a Jew, Jews shouldn’t let their oppressors define the nation and diminish it.

  7. The photo perfectly illustrates this story – misleading and inflammatory. You realize this a Semana Santa procession and not a Klan rally don’t you? Very Al-Ahram but without the hook noses.

  9. I’m Christian and I cannot believe this is happening. Thanks for the article. I like +972, as my FB friend Joseph Dana introduced me to the magazine. +927, Joseph, Max Blumenthal and Mondoweiss keep me up-to-date on what’s happening. All the best from Vermont, USA. – Jay

  13. Nothing like an emotive picture to get the juices going.A bit over the top,not for the Left, they like to inflate and blow up simple little incidents into major incidents. His Jewishness whatever that is, was not revoked,it was questioned by a minor clerk……But why bother with these minor details when there is another story to smear Israel with….SAD……

  15. It doesn’t matter that he was only “questioned by a minor clerk” – what matters is that anyone should find it acceptable to question his validity as an Israeli citizen.

  19. @ Zelig. As an Israeli whenever I read about the abuses the state perpetuates in the name of Judaism I want to puke. If you don’t like the fact that Israelis want to live like a free and emancipate people (like in the US) then feel free to stop sending your money over.

  21. Dimi, do you consider “Vicki’s” comment to be hate speech? Would you allow a poster to state that Palestinians are souless and perversions of humanity?

  23. Revoking his Judaism?!?!

So whats the deal? Do they sew back on the foreskin? For putting up with this bullsh*t, this guy should get an additional two inches as severance pay.

  25. Yeah, I can just see it now. Inside of a week after being fired from judaism, :D , this guy’ll end up becoming a country-music fan lying around the deera (caravan) in a grease-stained wife-beater, drinking Schlitz beer and eating pork rinds. Yep. He’s livin’ the dream :D

  27. 1) According to Halacha the guy isn’t Jewish. He maybe a nice man, he may have had a father in the holocaust, but that does not make him Jewish. You are Jewish two ways: either your mom is Jewish or you convert. That’s it. The guy is not Jewish. End of story.

    2) His “jewishness” was not “revoked”. He never was Jewish. Regardless of what a government agency says, you are either Jewish or not, based on #1.
