Any soldier that uses excessive force that is beyond the guidelines of the IDF should be punished. This is unequivocal. At the same time there should be discplinary practices against families and friends of known radical terrorists. Part of the message instilled is that there are consequences for actions. The “apologists” as you call them specifically refer to idle soldiers guarding the border being bombarded by groups of stone-throwers.

Anonymous, when a Palestinian twelve-year-old is arrested in the middle of the night and taken away blindfolded and handcuffed in military custody on a charge of throwing stones at soldiers, apologists such as yourself always come out to tell us how lethal the activity is. How these arrests are vital to public safety. Some of you do go so far as to call it terrorism. The arguments against such abusive treatment are not that stones can’t hurt (although statistically it’s extremely unlikely for anyone to be killed or badly injured) but that an occupying army has no right to expect anything better from the people it is oppressing.

But when settlers throw stones (even if they chuck them at the army) there are rarely if ever arrests. There is certainly no orchestrated campaign of arresting stone-throwers in the middle of the night. No detention without charge, no policy of conducting random arrests without proof to try and scare the neighbourhood youngsters into ‘good behaviour’. The point of this article is obviously to highlight the difference in police and military treatment of stone-throwers when they just so happen to be Jews. Exactly whose hypocrisy is being revealed here?
