Shavit was on Ayala Hasson's show on Channel 1 Friday, spouting more of this stuff. This time he said that it is not the US, but Obama personally, due to his deeply-held "anticolonialist" views (that he picked up from Edward Said at the University of Chicago where Said never taught), that has prevented the US from the more active interventionist approach that Shavit wants. This discourse comes straight from US right-wing figures like Dinesh D'Souza and Newt Gingrich, for whom "anticolonialism" is a way of drawing attention to Obama's race without mentioning race.
