  1. Wow. You really helped me understand what’s going on, from the inside. Thanks. What a tragic event.

  3. The most compelling thing I’ve read on the fires so far. Thank you. Take care.

  5. A day in the life.
Fire, fear, family, politics, prejudice, anger, warmth, history, holocaust, music, memories, nostalgia.
    It could only happen here.

  9. I note from people like you, other journalists and professional malcontents like Yossi Sarid (see his disgusting column in Ha’aretz and then read the comments) that you all seem to think it is vital to take national tragedies like this and to use them immediately to bash the people and politicians you don’t like. (Don’t worry, I blame the people the who said they wished the Arabs would burn up no less than I blame you-it seems to be a Jewish malady that crosses party lines).
You want more proof of what I am saying:
Look at the header of the piece Noam Sheizaf wrote.

  11. Hi Ami,

Thank you for this, it has shed a lot of light on the current goings on in the fire. It also sheds alot of light on the statements made within israel and also allows me to see a unique perspective.

I would appreciate remaining in contact with you!

  13. Hi Ami, your grandmother Muriel is my dearest friend and she sent me this blog. It feel as though you are right in the middle of the fire as you express yourself so well; brief and to the point. Many years ago a forest was donated in memory of my son. I feel now that I am losing him again. Diane Marcus
