  1. @ PHILOS

    Amen.

I have yet to see an article backing up Ben Israel’s malicious slanders against Uri Avnery. I look at Wikipedia, that AIPAC mouthpiece, and his bio states his family fled the Nazis. Many people around the world at that time saw the Nazis as “liberators,” among them the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. Ukrainians welcomed them with flowers, only to be mass-slaughtered shortly after, and I could quote many other examples.

The Canaanite movement, AFAIK, did not support the Nazis. So, where does this rumor come from? Until I read a credible source, I will treat it as a cyber-zombie slander.

On Rommel: Rommel was a soldier’s soldier, and Ben Israel comments on him only show his ignorance about the tense dynamic between the Wehrmacht and the Nazi party ideologues. As soldiers, the Germans were the best, and their discipline was a tradition going back for centuries. Many military men felt Hitler’s use of the army for his delusions broke with long-held traditions.

No biography of Rommel, a man his troops revered, show him as a butcher, or anti-Jew for that matter.

A quote from his page at Wikipedia.

    ————————————

As one of the few generals who consistently fought the Western Allies (he was never assigned to the Eastern Front), Rommel is regarded as having been a humane and professional officer. His Afrikakorps was never accused of war crimes. Soldiers captured during his Africa campaign were reported to have been treated humanely. Furthermore, he ignored orders to kill captured commandos, Jewish soldiers and civilians in all theaters of his command.[2]

In conclusion, Ben Israel is a troll.

  3. @Philos:

Actually, Irgun declared a ceasefire and stopped its terrorist activities for allowing the Brits to fight the Nazis shortly after the start of the War. In fact, Lehi was founded by Irgun members who disagreed with this policy.

  4.
  5. “that the Stern Gang and Irgun were fascists and supporters of Germany, Italy and Japan during the war is a known fact. ”

What a stupid lie. Taoist, that you “amened” that idiocy utterly changed my impression of you.

The most that Irgun and Stern Gang did relative to Germany, Italy, Japan was to attempt to negotiate with the naziis to allow emigration.

They were nationalist raised to a power, and terrorist, but “supporters of Germany, Italy, Japan” is just ludicrous, cruelly so.

  7. Isn’t it odd how Taoist who claims to be a “principled anti-Fascist” and who goes around tarring all kinds of people with the Fascist label suddenly develops a soft spot for Nazi Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in addition to defending much of the Wehrmacht, simply because Uri Avnery likes him? This tells a LOT about who Taoist really is.

  9. @ RICHARD WITTY,

I thought you had gotten over your resentfulness about my hasbara comment, but guess not. You seem to be more ready to attack than to reason (or think), getting to be a perfect pair with hasbara talkbacker BEN ISRAEL.

My “Amen” to PHILOS was about human nature’s potential for change. Now if you read my post again, and think (its not that difficult) before trying to get your hasbara resentment out, you will notice I said, quote,

    ———————————–

“I have yet to see an article backing up Ben Israel’s malicious slanders against Uri Avnery… Until I read a credible source, I will treat it as a cyber-zombie slander…”

    ———————————–

That should be enough for anyone with a modicum thinking capacity, to understand the differences between my position and PHILOS.

Problem with your style of posting, is you state things and we are suppose to “believe” you. Nothing backs up your assertions. On top of that, your English is very difficult to understand, as if you’re writing through a machine.

If I disappointed you, tough luck. I hope it won’t be the first time, nor the last one. Just be careful not to join the trolls. :-)

  11. “Amen” means “I agree to everything”.

It doesn’t mean, “I agree to this, but not to that”, unless you are explicit.

So, do you “amen” that Irgun was supportive of nazi Germany, or do you not know, or disagree with that?

Stop the “troll” name-calling. Its inaccurate and unnecessary.

    @ RICHARD WITTY

    If you say so.

Your main reason for this engagement is to “win,” a “witless” proposition that precludes the main reason for debating: learning.

Since you already answered you question, why bother? Waste of time.

    C’ya ’round, Richard.

  15. Taoist,
You called me a troll (false). I write on content.

You called irgun an ally of Germany (false). They negotiated on a few occassions for Jewish emigration to Israel/Palestine.

You could just end it by saying “I don’t know exactly”.
