Actually, only a relatively small share of the Israeli budget goes directly on Occupation spending (not least thanks to the American tax payer). Most of the imbalance is thanks to outrageous tax cuts to tycoons. See here: http://972mag.com/ending-the-occupation-won’t-save-most-israelis-money/27362/

This is the Human Face of Israel.
Not some smug plutocrat from out of town but an ordinary human being. Just how much Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich can Bibi implement before Israelis catch on to the transfer of wealth from the many to the few.

This report instances why I think the equal duties argument on conscription is useful (apart from a general belief in equal protection). If the conscripted protect the people while themselves harmed through their service, then service can morph into protecting the people within Israel itself, not just at its whatever defined boarders. Conscripts are the just-adults of Israel, and they likely have a place in the hearts of many. You have lived in a kind of war economy for Israel's entire existence. If conscripts speak out while serving, then there is a voice for changing that war economy to some degree. The concept of national protection needs shifting. The left generally attacks whatever it defines as the national structure. Perhaps, instead, listen to those within that structure, who live lives outside of notice, generally. 80,000 likes is huge, you say. How many more feel as this 19 year old? That I could have been so eloquent at that age.
