Steve, stop putting words in other people’s mouths or provide proof of your contentions. To disprove one of them, I don’t think Islamic terrorists are more insane than Jewish or Irish ones. As Jimmy Carter several years ago, talk to Hamas. I know you want it to be the Nazis all over again, but there are indications this is not true. After the election you mention the party leader of Hamas offered a 10 year truce; he said he wanted to concentrate not on the conflict, but on internal development (a good way to keep the votes coming). Now I do not know if that would have happened. I do know that the fairest election of that day was effectively nullified. That is not a good way to begin.

THe majority of Palestinians voted for Hamas terrorists in elections. Israel recognizes this and takes it into account. Unfair, biased Israel-bashers want to ignore that and pretend that Israel is being unreasonable for protecting itself from Hamas-worshipping, Saddam-worshipping nuts.

Israel is in a frozen war. What is supposed to be temporary, the destuction and displacement of people, has become enduring, a fundamental defintion of the State. After a while, we no longer believe another way is possible. This camp is one consequence.

Yes, I can see how your assumptions of someone’s political views based on the background of a picture gives Israel every right to occupy, expel and deny the very basic human rights to an entire people. The issue is whether Palestinians are human beings, and I find it terrifying how many Zionists take every opportunity to deny that humanity. There’s a picture of Saddam Hussein, so conditions in the refugee camp must not be that bad?
