“hafrada” might be best for israelis and hebrew speakers but i am neither. apartheid is a global world so please respect our freedom to call it the way we see it. some words have a universal meaning..like genocide, civil rights, freedom, liberty, racism, ethnic cleansing and apartheid.
my understanding is hafrada means separation. well let me clue you in, there’s a lot more than mere separation going on here. there’s oppression going on, domination and submission. denial of rights.
ok, now that i have put in my 2 cents on israeli apartheid, my hunch is that the economy is tight and there’s probably decent money to be made driving to and from the airport. so, why share it with the lessor beings?

Agreed, “hafrada state” is much better. In it, Bnei Yisrael occupy space with Bnei Miutim but the twain shall meet as little as inhumanly possible.

Noam’s “hafrada” is the best. Apartheid was an Afrikaans word so we should use a Hebrew word. Israel is not an apartheid state. It is a “hafrada” state. It’s also a “hasbara” state but that’s another argument altogether….

I do like the word “apartheid” (appropriately, rhymes with “hate”). Different laws for different governmentally-determined (discriminating) subdivisions of the populace (or are these “subdivisions” more properly called “races”? — Americans remember when Irish immigrants were not considered to be part of the “white race”). Jews recall, without much pleasure, the discriminating governmentally-determined subdividing of the population of Germany into “Aryans” and “Jews”. Nice to see the lessons weren’t forgotten!
