I am amazed at the parallels between Israel and America—the main difference being that American citizens have yet to mobilize against the radical right.

Bibi does seem to think the "invisible hand" solves all problems, but to be fair, if the problem in Israel is concentrated wealth and cartels, then opening up overpriced commodities (like cottage cheese) for foreign competition IS a swift solution to that particular problem.

Otherwise, if you rely strictly on subsidies, you help grow yet another cartel at taxpayer expense. I think this country's middle-class revolt is at least as much a vote of no confidence to that sort of government-robber baron relationship as it is anything else.

Nice rant from Yuval Ben Ami, very well said and I love the parable of the cheese shop and it's tie in to Netenyahu's house of mirrors administration. LIKE!

I dont get much input from Israel as direct as this and after spending a lot of time with folks who trash Israelis mercilessly, myself included, I must say I have sin to atone for thanks to Yuvals wit and serious toned thesis on the tent city revolution ongoing in Israel.

It's the second day of my first Ramadan celebration and I messed up several times on the protocal allready but yet feel blessed by ALLAH's gentle hand and the company of the ummah and of the sisters and brothers in celebration, the atmosphere is candid, light and celebratory beyond what I expected and to see the Israeli tent cities lighting up with socially conscious Jewish minds is reason for happiness in my humble opinion.

Social awareness in the Jewish community, if my read is right, is nothing to mess with when it's batting hard balls in anger, which is a wonder to behold. I know this fron an oblique angle from my own roots as an outcast Amish background, the Yid in me feels a little tingly at all of the exitment in Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, me spider senses are tingling and I'm getting a sense that the seriousness of Jewish rebellion is going to be a substantial boost to the morale of the greater middle eastern region.

In the US we dont see this kind of responsible street action from the democrats or the Gop and wish for a breakthrough in just such a movement as is happening now in Israel. We need to telegraph this movement overseas to the sisterland, yes?

I know I must not be very loved in Israel and hear from Tsipi Hotovely that Israel is mostly right winged and to her sensibilities she thinks members of Knesset who dont heel hard to the right should be stripped of their privileges and disregarded as members, unseated for their critiques of Israeli policy, which by the by is FASCISM and it was on TV! MK Hain set her straight, yeah! She is a rightie and an elitest which if she cant tolerate dissent means that she is a fascist, theres that word again...

Trust me, I may not have endeared myself enough to Israel to suggest my advice as a friend but as a brother to the people of Israel in the tent protest, may I aver humbly that Jews need fascism like they need a hole in the head, be nice people like the tent city folks and be real Jews with real Jewish values, all of this hokus pokus about turning Israel into a theme park for jet setters and a home base for international Jewish crooks is hogwash and delusional fakery. Jews want to at the very least be known for giving a shit about poor people, the dejected, disenfranchised and marginalised of their flocks and caring about stranger and children more than anyone else in the world, Jews are everywhere and see a hell of a lot in their collective minds eye as a people, not to share their wealth and their fury at injustice with the rest of the planet is an outrage, tent city revolution sounds like a winner for everyone, the people get to speak up and be heard for a change God Knows their leaders never shut up? Great work Yuval, Damn I like the cheese shop bit!
