I think it was supposed to be inspiring, but that she was singing on eggs as it were, because of the Hebrew. My basis for that observation is largely the ear-shattering octave-jump at the end; a traumatic awakening that would mark any poor baby for the rest of its life.

Legal ramifications. I think that this law should be abolished:

Section 8 of the Elections Law prohibits entertainment performances at election campaign events, including singing performances.

Second ramification: prosecutors should consider the following plea bargain for Lieberman: 10 years of public service in the form of NOT SINGING. He should wear a bracelet what would alarm police in the case of a violation, and each violation would result in some jail time.

Remaining silent, as a person thus afflicted bearing a modicum of goodwill towards his fellow-man normally would, would put Lieberman on dangerous ground that members of his party actually laid themselves not long ago when they raised hell about judge Salim Joubran’s right to remain silent.

““He spat in the face of the state of Israel,” asserted David Rotem, a member of Parliament with the nationalist Yisrael Beiteinu Party, speaking of Justice Joubran’s actions. Those who object to the Zionist hymn, he said, “can find a state with a more appropriate anthem and move there.”

Reached by telephone, Mr. Rotem added that Justice Joubran “should do the decent thing and step down.”

Michael Ben-Ari, a Parliament member from the far right National Union Party, introduced a bill last week to limit the Supreme Court to those who have performed military or national service, which would exclude a vast majority of Arabs. He called it the “Joubran bill.”

I like Balad version. Whatever music you add to the original Lieberman, it is so painful to hear that it is not funny. Shouldn’t murdering of the national anthem suffice to ban someone from running for the Parliament, or at least from any public singing?

I loved – and laughed ’til I cried – the variations on Libi’s tin-ear theme. I’m glad to have it back as I’ve been wanting to share the clip with friends since the only time I ever heard it. It was so overwhelming I didn’t have the presence of mind to save the link.

The Balad party have ignored our erstwhile Foreign Minister’s cacophonic excursion into music, setting his words to a tuneful debka for their election campaign instead.
